KANG (TVA)

Inspiration comes at you from anywhere and everywhere, and when it does, your mind takes full control until you exhaust your creativity. Today was one of those days, and I had a lot of fun doing it.

While on Twitter, I saw a post from someone I follow, the author and director @MatthewACherry reposted a tweet from the official Marvel Studios account about all of Loki episodes being on Diseny+ where he asked #PhotoshopTwitter to make this poster a church fan.

Twitter user and UX/UI Designer @uyendaylin took this image and made a PNG of it to make such endeavors easier and helpful for the community. (seen below)

Now comes the fun part, everything was done in Illustrator on both the PC and multiple apps on my phone, some I like more than others but I'm putting the ones I liked the most up.

Attack of The "Black People" (jev)©

Them
Attack of The "Black People"

The weapon you never knew you had.

As a melanated man I'm quite aware of how I'm viewed in the world at large. Being black has never been easy for us, and being marginalized is just part of the system we have to operate in.
⇜ MONSTERS ⇝
This is how they see us, not as equals, deserving of love and acceptance, but beasts who can't control ourselves so we need to be at all times policed.
I can say fortunate for me I don't live in the US, so I'm not on everyday alert to the fact that at any time the police will stop and/or harass me, kinda. I have traveled though, and when you're tall, dark with dreadlocks and don't smile much, you get the look of distrust.

It seems we are not immune of said distrust under any circumstances in our everyday lives, and the most proficient of objects that has been weaponized against us is the telephone.
Make no mistake, this has been a weapon of choice for a very long time now, but future advancements have made it all the more lethal.

We've all seen the multiple videos and the many nicknames. (YouTube video titles)

And the greatest one I've seen thus far...

  • Woman  called the cops to report the fact that humpback whales were swimming under her boat.

Yes, you read that correctly. Humpback whales were swimming under her boat, in the ocean.
The level of entitlement one needs for this to even be a thing is outstanding. Caucasian people can't seem to help themselves, and this I've come to understand. But the utterly absurd things they call 911 about seems to be boundless.

*The poster was done to mimic The Blob movie poster, which I watched for the first time when i got the idea to do this. I also watch a movie called 24x36 A Movie About Movie Posters because I wanted to know who all the great poster artists were.

Where have i seen this before... (jev)©

Well this was interesting... Its been a while since i've posted but i was just on Netflix minding my own beezwax when i saw it. A poster for a movie called Predestination.

Predestination is a 2014 Australian science fiction mystery thriller film written and directed by The Spierig Brothers, based on the 1959 short story "'—All You Zombies'" by Robert A. Heinlein. The film stars Ethan HawkeSarah Snook and Noah Taylor.

It hit me immediately because i've definitely seen this artwork or something just like it before. Matter of fact it looked almost like something i did years ago, 2006 to be precise and uploaded here in 2007.

http://westindi.blogspot.com/2007/01/into-unknown.html

Now i ain't gonna say they stole my look, but... I know what i'm looking at. Don't get me wrong my idea isn't a new one, but damn, it surprised me.

So this is artwork I called Into The Unknown

And this is the Poster for the movie, there were others used (I don't care for those) but this seems to be the main one/theme used the most.

Pretty sure it was done by one of these same studio that does almost all these Hollywood movie posters, and that's why they almost always look the same.

It's all good tho, found me a new movie to watch and maybe get me active again in posting all the artwork I have piled up on the computer.

Dogs have opinions on design matters too. Sometimes, maybe.

And sometimes a dog is just a dog. Why all the Comic Sans hate?

Blood Diamond (jev)©

This was a poster i did like two years ago, not sure why i never got around to posting it up.

If you had to choose one scene from the movie to sum it up, i think this would be the one (spoiler alert).

BIG fish & small fries (jev)©

Let me preface this with saying that I have no problem with either the State of Emergency or curfew,
as neither of them affect me really. I work my usual work hours and I’m at home during the “ lock down” hours.

Now here’s where I’ll contradict myself by saying that the only problems that I’m having with all of this is the manner in which it’s being dealt with.

(1) The Attorney General is a moron. He in his wisdom, at every turn, thinks he has to clarify his clarification of a clarification of someone else or himself.

(2) The notion that the only people that the “lock down” is affecting is the criminals [insert laugh here]
I guess that there are more criminals than there are law abiding citizens (looking at you here Minister of Justice).

(3) Millions, Thousands & Hundreds of dollars ARE being lost due the “lock down”. Everybody is going to lose directly or indirectly.

(4) Hotspot & Big Fish *sigh* The two key words being used and over used for about a week now with no end in sight.
One I love and the other, not so much. People get robbed and shot all over the place so to me there’s no "hotspot".
As for the Big Fish... I love it, it gave me the inspiration for the artwork. In fact, I’ll be using that term often, over using it actually.
So... for something that started out as a joke between me and a co-worker turned into artwork and a rant.
*Steps off soapbox*

George Bush The Button v2 (jev)©

It's a Hip-Hop expression used since the US invaded Iraq after Sept 11th.
Not sure who started it, but it's been used many times by many people.

This is the second color version of this (to be printed) poster i did.

The End (jev)©

I loved when movies use to end like this. No credits. No listing of 2nd grip or who the assistant of the assistant was, none of that. The good old days of Westerns and Kung Fu bka kickup movies.

Sorry, but I'm not tryin' to sit through 5 mins of scrolling text and lame music. When the movie is over I'm outta there. with the exception of maybe the Naked Gun movies. Now those credits were worth the sit through.
